COOKING RECIPE

Brigadeiro (brigadier) is a very popular Brazilian chocolate sweet, much used at birthday parties and so yummy yummy, hmmmmmm...

As it is very easy to do, it is also commonly made by Brazilian teenagers, when they go to each other's house and is really great to eat when your boyfriend and you broke, or when you are very depressed. The origin of the sweet is still obscure with many theories, one of them says that it was a sweet made to honor an important and handsome brigadier on the 50's. But no one knows for sure.

To do Brigadeiros, you will need:

-1 tablespoon of butter

-1 can of sweetened condensed milk (for example: Milkmaid)

-3 tablespoons of cocoa powder (or chocolate powder)

-1 packet of chocolate sprinkles

Add the butter, the condensed milk and cocoa powder in a pan and take it to low fire. Mix all the ingredients and keep stirring with no stop, until the mix looses from the bottom of the pan. Take it from the fire. From now on you can carry on 2 different ways:

1-Put the mix in a greased plate and wait for it to get cool. Take another plate and put the chocolate sprinkles on it. Grease both of your hands with butter and with a tablespoon take a little bit of the mix, put it on your hands and roll it into a small ball. Then put it on the chocolate sprinkles plate and roll it, until the ball gets completely covered. Put it in a small paper case. Repeat the process until all the mix is gone.

2-Put the mix in small bowls, pour a little bit of the chocolate sprinkles in each and just wait for it to get cool so you can eat.

For the non patience people there is a quicker way to prepare the mix: put the butter, the condensed milk and the cocoa powder in a bowl (WITH HIGH EDGES) that can go to microwave oven. Mix the ingredients well and put the bowl on the microwave oven during 6 minute at high power, stopping it every 2 minutes to stir. Then you can choose between the step 1 or 2.
