Hello Beautiful World!
Before I ever blogged for Second Life, I used to write a blog for kids where I was known as Sweets,
the name of that blog was Pico Perfect and it was based on the virtual world for kids named Ameba
Pico. There, I had kids from all over the world asking for my advice on problems that might be having
either in Ameba Pico or real life. That segment of the blog was called Dear Sweets, HERE you can
see some of the letters/messages I would receive.
Most of the letters I was receiving back then were friendship problems which I always tried to give
the best advice I could to help these children out. Funny now how much of that advice I use to give
out now I find myself applying to my own friendships in Second Life. Most of the friendships I make
usually end as fast as they start which is very sad to me. Others are what I called simply acquaintances,
people that I only hear from once in a blue moon or even worse never again after I have added them.
Only very few remain as real friends and by this, I mean people that I either talk to often during the
week or every day and that show true concern for my well-being and make me feel they are genuine
happy when they hear from me and vice-versa.
I am going to brutally blunt here, so please forgive me.
I refuse to keep mediocre "friendships" in my life. Life is too short and beautiful to keep people around
that are not really interested in a positive and caring relationship with me. I will not force anyone into
keeping me around in a list of names that have no meaning to them or interest whatsoever.
With that said, soon I will be removing some names of the people that in months a real friendship
hasn't developed by now or the friendships that have been reduced to really nothing even after many
attempts from my side to save them. Friendship is a beautiful thing, it should never feel forced or insincere,
it shouldn't make us feel unappreciated or unimportant. Friendship should make us smile and happy
when even a simple hello is exchanged. If you walk away with a knot in your tummy and a frown
on your face every time you try any kind of interaction with a "friend", then, there is nothing there
worth keeping. Funny though how many people will still get offended when their names get removed
even after barely any, or none interaction between us has been exchanged.
I have too much respect for friendship that those that have been real friends to me, I cherish and love
and care for. These are the people that make me smile every day and that I get so happy and excited
every time I IMed them to say hello. It is a beautiful thing to have a list of names that each,
mean something to us and that we know we can count on them and they can count on us, any time.
Even if it's six, four, two names, it doesn't matter. Even one true friend can make a world of
difference in life than twenty or thirty names in a list will ever do when there's not a bond there.
Thanks For Reading My Beautiful People!
Much Love,
Lori Novo
