Christmas Always Finds Me

For My Mother

Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!
What if Christmas, he thought, ...perhaps...means a little bit more!”
― Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Is it too late to celebrate Christmas?

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill,
to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”
― Calvin Coolidge

Hello Beautiful World!
Happy Wednesday to all. I've decided that it's never too late to celebrate my mother's favorite
time of the year, Christmas.

Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.”
― Hamilton Wright Mabie

Since my mother's passing back in April 2017, Christmas has become the hardest time of the year for me.
I go into deep depressions and anger. I truly become the Grinch during the holidays.
Many times I wished that I could just fall asleep during that time and wake up when everything Christmas-related
has been completely cleared out, and no sign of it is left behind.
It is crazy how my mind works, since my mother loved Christmas, and she seemed to always be the happiest
around that time of the year. But really, my mother was always the happiest person I knew,
kind-hearted and so full of love and joy for life that it was hard not to get contagious
by her beautiful soul.

Now, the happy memories of my mother so lovingly celebrating Christmas are bittersweet.
I smile and cry, and cry and smile, and sadly, crying beats the smiles because I know I can
never have her again in my life to celebrate Christmas together.

Christmas ghosts visit
rearranging emotions
tears waltz among smiles
― Susie Clevenger

My Steppenwolf tries to cheer me up every Christmas by decorating our home with
lights, poinsettias, and a Christmas tree, among other things. If he plays Christmas music, I mute it, and I learned to ignore all the holiday decor as if it were invisible to me. Every year, he tries to talk me
into opening my heart again to this beautiful holiday and letting the Christmas spirit in, unsuccessfully!

And unsuccessfully, he had been all these years until now. This past Christmas, my husband said something to me that I am sure he has said to me every year, but I had dismissed his words as he was saying them. This time I listened.

"Baby, honor your mother by celebrating Christmas, which she loved so much."

That's all he said, and his words were perfect and enough.
they gave me room to think and fill the rest once I let them into my heart.
They made me think that my mother is in every Christmas light and in every note and lyric of a Christmas song. She smiles through every happy smile on people's faces during the holidays.
My mother is the most alive during the holidays, and she has been waiting for me to continue to
celebrate all Christmases together. So I have decided that in my mother's memory, I will continue to honor her by celebrating Christmas with a heart full of joy and love, for her and the holiday.
Merry Christmas my Virita, my beautiful mother!

“Want to keep Christ in Christmas?
Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, forgive the guilty, welcome the unwanted,
care for the ill, love your enemies, and do unto others as you would have done unto you.”

Hell Of A Journey

“Butterflies are beautiful,
but the process of emerging from the chrysalis and spreading your wings can hurt like f*cking hell.
But still, you will survive the transformation (over and over again) and you will fly.
Remember this when it hurts the most.
This is the metamorphosis, the going down to liquid, and the rising again.
It’s no joke – but damn, it’s one hell of a journey.”
― Jeanette LeBlanc

My eyes can only see as far as I allow them.
It is fear that sets the limit to how far I can go, causing blindness to what lies ahead.
Fear of the unknown is what deprives me of experiencing and enjoying new and different gifts
that await me beyond the boundary line.
These precious gifts that are on the other side of my comfort zone are tools to help me improve my life.
But what if I get hurt in the process?
That is the fear in me speaking again,
limiting me, stopping me, dominating me.
Fear is a disability that imprisons my soul to a non-growing state of mind.
How little I am for listening to the fear that lives inside my head, when I could be growing
and growing and roaming with the giants. Instead, I hide under their shadows.

So I break the chains in my head that connect me to my fears.
I set myself free and accept the challenge.
I will go as far as I have to go, enduring any pain that may come my way,
with my head held high and proud. Undefeated, strong, and brave.
And I will grow like a tall Buloke, with iron running through my veins.
I will be the fiercest storm,
And I will be the gentle butterfly emerging from the pain of transformation
like a queen, with a smile and ready to take over the world.
No more tears of pain or fear. Only tears to water the earth below my feet
to help the flower grow.
One day, I will arrive at the final destination triumphant and joyous.
Wearing scars and heartbreaks like medals of honor.
And I will be pronounced a survivor, and a brave warrior, but never a victim.
What a hell of a journey!

Maybe I'm Crazy, Probably

Lori Novo: omg baby, do you think I'm crazy?
Steppenwolf (steppen.crescendo): yeah, just a little
Steppenwolf (steppen.crescendo): muazzz
Lori Novo: :P

"Come on now, who do you, who do you
Who do you, who do you think you are?
Ha-ha-ha, bless your soul
You really think you're in control

Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me..."

Hello Beautiful World, and a very Happy New Year!
May the new year bring peace to the world, and may humanity be showered with much love,
happiness, and good health.
Any New Year's resolutions? None for me, thank you!
What's the point, really? I always fail to follow them after a few weeks into the year,
and then I feel like a total loser. Instead, I'll just make momentous ones when I feel like it for a day.
They don't have to be big ones necessarily. As long as it is something that helps make my day happier,
more peaceful, or healthier, then I am down for that. No stress, just chill sailing into the new year.

So my sweet husband Steppenwolf thinks I am a bit crazy. Silly man, of course I am crazy...
crazy in love with him! But then again, I would rather be crazy than boring. Keep my mam
on his feet, always wondering what I'll do next, and then, BAM!, hit him with a crazy move
and scare the hell out of him while I laugh hysterically. But he loves it even though I almost
give him heart attacks every time.

"Yu fascinate me.
Yu have such highs and lows
like a big roller coaster.
Yu make me soar and crash
but I hate boring bus rides,
gimme a Ferrari any day
or a monster roller coaster
and thrill me to death." - Steppenwolf Crescendo

YES, those are his own words that he said to me many years ago, mhm.

But crazy or not, I adore that man with a passion.
He still gives me butterflies after all these years together. And I keep wondering,
how did I get so lucky?

The World Is Yours!

“There's a strange sensation you start having at a certain age:
your memories flash in front of your eyes without asking permission.”
― Al Pacino

Hello Beautiful World and a Happy Tuesday to all!
Today, Sunny and I come to you from a very beautiful location, small and cozy, and very inviting.
Welcome, this is
"Step into a living postcard this fall, where crimson and amber leaves drift lazily through the air,
blanketing winding paths that whisper with quiet charm. Whether you're seeking a peaceful stroll, a
scenic photo op, or simply a moment to unwind, this autumn wonderland welcomes you. Come sit a
spell and soak in the vibrant colors, crisp air, and cozy atmosphere that only this time of year can offer."

This is a place where you can't get lost because of how small it is compared to other Autumn locations.
But it is exactly that that gives it its charm. You will find many great locations to make beautiful
memories and take great pictures. It is there that I found a beautiful sign (First Picture) that
really made me smile.

What a beautiful reminder!
Indeed, the world is yours. There is a whole world waiting for all of us to enjoy and explore,
and watch the seasons march by, always bringing new hope and new beginnings.
The world is mine, yours, ours!
No one can take that away from us, not a single tiny piece. Never walk away from who you are or what
is yours because of others. Stay firm and strong and protect and claim what is rightfully yours.

The beautiful sign that inspired me for this post was created by hive. You can also find it HERE, in the
MarketPlace for 200Lindens. Three versions included. I should say I often find something
so beautiful in the sims that I explore to bring back home with me. Souvenirs that I add to our home
and will remind me of my visits to beautiful lands. This time was this sign; other times have been
animals, plants, home decorations, etc. It can really be anything.

The “The World Is Yours” quote originates from a scene in the American crime drama film Scarface (1983).
written by Al Pacino and Oliver Stone, and directed by Brian De Palma.

This scene actually gives me chills every time I watch it. It shows the very moment he realizes
that he has made it out, the definition of a dream, a war, finally reached and won. This movie is hands down one of
my favorite movies of all time. Absolutely legendary!

"One of the greatest scenes in cinematic history for its symbolism."
-yashvardhansinghsolanki6391

Al Pacino's Scarface film is a remake of the 1932 film, based on the 1930 novel by Armitage Trail,
and it tells the story of a Cuban refugee.

Now, I am sure“The World Is Yours” quote may have been used in other movies as well, not really sure.
But for today, I want to make it all about Al Pacino (Alfredo James Pacino), age 85, American actor,
well known for his intense performances in some of the greatest films ever made, earning him many awards.
(Standing Ovation!) 👏

This is all for now my beautiful people.
I thank you so much for your visit today and hope you enjoyed your stay.
Continue to have a most wonderful day and enjoy YOUR world, that is 100% rightfully yours!
I leave you now with some of Al Pacino's best quotes.

Much Love,
Lori Novo

“I always tell the truth. Even when I lie.”
“You'll never be alone if you’ve got a book.”
“It turned out that time doesn't heal the wound , but in its so merciful way,
blunts the edges ever so slightly”
“sometimes it's better to be with the devil u know than the angel u didn't know”
“Vanity is my favourite sin.”
“It's easy to fool the eye, but it's hard to fool the heart.”

Hello Beautiful World!
Happy Monday to all and welcome to another one of our "The Beautiful Women Of Second Life"
posts. This is part of the blog where I like to feature women with the most beautiful faces
that I find during my Second Life outings. It is mainly the physical appearance that qualifies these
beautiful ladies to make it into this section of the blog. However, I am happy to say that after
digging deeper, I always discover their inner beauty, which doubly qualifies them to be part of this group.

Please meet beautiful Josie Camino, our new beautiful lady. She's been a Second Life resident for
16 years and 2 months. As you all know, I like to give as much information as possible about the people
feature in the blog, which I get from chatting with them at the moment of the photo shoot and from
their profiles. However, this is the first time that I am doing this with very little information about the
person that I am featuring. Josie actually poofed away while I was still taking her pictures before I got
the chance to ask her anything. Then I checked her profile and found it to be a dead end. One of the
very few things that I was able to find was;
"This little piggy went to market, This little piggy stayed at home.
This little piggy had roast beef, And this little piggy had none."

Photo by Josie Camino                                                   This Little Piggy - Nursery Rhyme for Kids | Rock 'N Learn

Yes! Josie has cute toes in real life, but I am sure she also has a beautiful personality.
By the way, you can find the quote at the top of this post in her profile.

But speaking of toes, as we all know, toes are very crucial for balancing, but our big toes are the ones
that bear more of the weight. Also, our big toe can surgically replace a missing thumb if we were to
lose it and can actually accomplish many of the things our thumbs could, for example, holding a pencil,
opening a door, etc. Plus toes contain 14 bones, 2 in the big toe and 12 in the smaller toes.
Huh? That doesn't make any sense... anyway, where was I going with this? Oh well. 😮

This is all for now my beautiful people. Wishing you a happy week ahead and an exciting Second Life.
I leave you now with some wise words from no other than Albert Einstein, and a list of some of the
items our beautiful Josie was wearing at the time of the shoot.

Much Love,
Lori Novo

 EXPLORING SECOND LIFE

Pozdravljen lepi svet! [Hello beautiful World!]
Welcome to Lake Bled @ Overland Hills (Moderate)
Inspired by Lake Bled in Slovenia, famous for its crystal-clear waters, small island church, and
serene alpine setting.

Rez Rights Group: Nigrum Cattus

Last night, after spending a beautiful time with my Steppenwolf, I felt like going out with Sunny
(my doggie) and exploring one of the many beautiful sims out there. It's been a good while since
I've been out of my studio exploring, and I really enjoyed it very much. I had forgotten how peaceful
and fun it was, shame on me!

My search for a good place to explore took me to beautiful Lake Bled in Slovenia, and I found myself
surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountain peaks and thick forests, where the fresh smell of
nature was hard to ignore. Now, I always like to learn things about the beautiful places that I get to
explore in Second Life, where their creations were inspired by real-life places, for example,

On this occasion, during my search to learn real facts about Lake Bled, I discovered that this beautiful
land is full of myths and legends, like that of the dancing fairies and my favorite, the sunken bell...

The Legend of the Sunken Bell -SOURCE
"This folk tale tells of a young widow who lived in Bled Castle. After her husband was killed by bandits
and his body thrown in the lake, the young woman was inconsolable. Overcome by grief, she collected
all of the gold and silver that she and her husband had and ordered that it be melted down and cast into
a bell to commemorate her fallen beloved. She intended that the bell be installed in the chapel on Bled
Island where she prayed daily after her husband’s death.

However, the bell never arrived at its destination. During its transportation to the island, a storm hit,
and a powerful swell overtook the boat, sinking it and its precious cargo to the bottom of the lake.
Defeated, the widow sold her remaining belongings and offered the proceeds for the construction of a
new church on the island. She left Bled for Rome where she joined a monastery and lived out
the rest of her days as a nun.

After she passed, the Pope heard of her story and was touched by both her misfortune and her good
deeds as a nun. He decided to have a new bell made in her honor and placed in the steeple of the church
on Bled Island. It is believed that anyone who rings this blessed bell three times will have their wish
granted – a promise which tempts visitors to the island again and again.

Those who visit Lake Bled on Christmas Day are privy to a special treat, as every year on December
25th, the Legend of the Sunken Bell is celebrated in a spectacular light show. Spectators gather around
the lake to watch divers recover a bell in a stunning visual performance blending fire and sound,
bringing the legend to life. Of course, the bell the divers recover is one made of lights, designed purely
for the show. As for the real bell, cast by the young widow sitting at the bottom of the lake, it is said that
if you listen closely in the silence of the night, you can still hear it ringing from its watery resting place."  -SOURCE

HERE, you can read more about the myths and legends about this beautiful lake and five great
attraction facts that will make you want to visit beautiful Lake Bled.

Hope you pay a visit to our own Second Life's Lake Bled, and please show some Linden love during your visit.
Remember that all donations, big or small will be greatly appreciated. The song video is a Slovenian song,
I hope you enjoyed it. ;) Have a beautiful day!
I leave you now with Lake Bled's folk tale about the dancing fairies...

"Lake Bled was created by fairies.
The most well-known folk tale about the origin of Lake Bled tells that the lake was created by fairies.
According to the story, the area of the lake used to be a valley full of luscious grass. The local shepherds
liked to bring their sheep to the valley during the day, and fairies loved to use the soft grass as their
dance floor at night. Afraid that the sheep would eat all of their grass, the fairies asked the shepherds to
build a fence around their dance floor. The shepherds refused to help the fairies, and soon the sheep ate
all the grass and left nothing but bare earth behind. Seeking revenge, the fairies flooded the valley and
created a lake with a small island in the middle, where they could continue to dance at night." -SOURCE

See The Stone Set In Your Eyes

What is this? Just one picture?
This can't possibly be Lori!

Hello Beautiful World and a happy Monday to all!
I want to start the week with this undeniably beautiful song, "With Or Without You," performed by
Irish rock band U2 from their album The Joshua Tree (1987), their fifth studio album, which hit
number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks that year.

"Most bands make music. This one makes history."
-mauriceslevines6100

The song contains a cluster of emotions, ranging from personal struggle, everything from loss and sadness,
and much more. It is absolutely a timeless melody and one of the best songs ever written.

So I just finished reading the book "Brain On Fire", the compelling true story of Susannah Cahalan,
a young New York Post reporter who contracts a rare brain disorder. Not only was her illness
terrifying, but it also seemed like possession, like in the movie The Exorcist. I also learned some very
scary things about her illness, for example, who knows what a "teratoma" is?
Now, I am pretty sure many of you know the answer to this, but I sure didn't, and I was very shocked
by what I was reading. A teratoma is a real monster that can grow inside the human body. The good news is
that they are usually-but not always benign, as the book explains.
A teratoma is a "a type of tumor that contains tissues from different parts of the body, such as hair,
teeth, bone, and muscle" -Google Search, and sometimes even eyes. I do have some images below
but I must warn you, they are very disturbing. Click pictures to enlarge.

These types of tumors were first identified in the late 1800s by a German doctor who named them
"teratoma" from the Greek word "teraton", which means "monster".
OMG, I am scared!!! Here on WebMD, you can read more about this.
Anyway, don't worry, this is not a spoiler in case you are planning on reading the book, which I highly recommend.
What I do not recommend is watching the movie based on the book. While they had
a good cast of great actors, the movie itself was a waste of time. Not even close to what Susannah
and her loved ones went through. Good thing I always like reading the books before watching the movies.
The books are always a lot better!

Checking out now my beautiful people. Continue to have an amazing day, and remember that
true happiness is found in the quiet satisfaction of knowing we keep giving our best,
even when no one is watching.

Over & Out!
