Chirp, Chirp, Chirping!
Tell me little sparrow, have you lost your way,
What are you looking for in these deep woods
when all your friends have gone away?
What is it that keeps you here on these lonely grounds,
where only your happy chirp, chirp, chirping,
is the only sound around.

Her friends had warned her that it was a crazy idea,
still, she ignored each and every one of their pleas not to go on with her plans.
She had always had an adventurous soul, always eager and curious to explore beyond
the norm and so she went to sleep that night feeling an enormous
thrill of anticipation for what awaited her the next day.
The next morning, at the wake of dawn
and as she had planned the day before,
she ventured into the pine forest where she had been many times before.
As she began to explore those familiar woods, her heart began to beat uncontrollably.
However, on this occasion, it was a totally different experience.
She could hear the soft crackling of snow under her bare feet as
she first set foot on the snow-covered ground
sending a cold chill all through her body.
Zig-zagging swiftly deeper and deeper into the icy pine forest,
as if dancing with nature on that winter day,
she tried unsuccessfully looking at the top of the gigantic pine trees from where she stood,
realizing her sight couldn't reach that high.
The hours passed and by noon, feeling tired and hungry,
she picked a few berries to eat from the hollyberry bushes nearby
and sat by the frozen brook to rest for a few minutes,
joined by her sparrow buddy who had been following her around through the woods.
Both sat by the brook in silence,
enjoying the tranquility and beauty of the wintry day.
Minutes later she got up and went on with her day,
discovering with every step new and different ways of viewing and appreciating nature's gifts.
She felt saddened to see that her adventure was soon to end as sunset
started to settle in the distance but at the same time she was eager to return to her friends
and share with them this wonderful experience.
"No matter what kind of God's children we are, the world is a beautiful place to all!",
she said as she looked up to her buddy on the tree that had been watching over her all through
her journey. And as she opened her arms wide, they turned back into splendid sparrow wings.
"We can go home now."
she chirped feeling satisfied, and both sparrows flew away.
My story today was inspired by the beautiful song "Wake Up Little Sparrow".
