Hello Beautiful World!
Happy Monday to all and welcome to another one of our "The Beautiful Women Of Second Life"
posts. This is part of the blog where I like to feature women with the most beautiful faces
that I find during my Second Life outings. It is mainly the physical appearance that qualifies these
beautiful ladies to make it into this section of the blog. However, I am happy to say that after
digging deeper, I always discover their inner beauty, which doubly qualifies them to be part of this group.

Please meet beautiful Josie Camino, our new beautiful lady. She's been a Second Life resident for
16 years and 2 months. As you all know, I like to give as much information as possible about the people
feature in the blog, which I get from chatting with them at the moment of the photo shoot and from
their profiles. However, this is the first time that I am doing this with very little information about the
person that I am featuring. Josie actually poofed away while I was still taking her pictures before I got
the chance to ask her anything. Then I checked her profile and found it to be a dead end. One of the
very few things that I was able to find was;
"This little piggy went to market, This little piggy stayed at home.
This little piggy had roast beef, And this little piggy had none."

Photo by Josie Camino                                                   This Little Piggy - Nursery Rhyme for Kids | Rock 'N Learn

Yes! Josie has cute toes in real life, but I am sure she also has a beautiful personality.
By the way, you can find the quote at the top of this post in her profile.

But speaking of toes, as we all know, toes are very crucial for balancing, but our big toes are the ones
that bear more of the weight. Also, our big toe can surgically replace a missing thumb if we were to
lose it and can actually accomplish many of the things our thumbs could, for example, holding a pencil,
opening a door, etc. Plus toes contain 14 bones, 2 in the big toe and 12 in the smaller toes.
Huh? That doesn't make any sense... anyway, where was I going with this? Oh well. 😮

This is all for now my beautiful people. Wishing you a happy week ahead and an exciting Second Life.
I leave you now with some wise words from no other than Albert Einstein, and a list of some of the
items our beautiful Josie was wearing at the time of the shoot.

Much Love,
Lori Novo

Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?

Hello Beautiful World!
Today I come to you as a chicken, more like a hen really. If I was a chicken boy
that would make me a pussy, get it? LOL, just kidding my beautifuls, I would be a rooster.
cluck-CLUCK-cluck
Do you hear me clucking? :P
Clucking is the sound mother hens make to talk to their baby chicks. These beautiful birds are very
loving and can make great pets. Hens are very motherly and even before their babies hatch, the mother
hen will softly purr, coo, or cluck to comfort her babies while sitting on the eggs. This helps the baby
chicks feel safe while hatching. Soon after they hatch, the baby chicks recognize their mother's sound.
The sounds a mother hen makes to communicate with her babies differ from situation to situation.
For example, "tuk-tuk-tuk" is the sound she makes to encourage her babies to eat,
and keeps her babies close by clucking a low-pitched sound.

But what is all this chicken talk about anyways?
Well, a few days ago, in an event that I went to I spotted a chicken wandering around.
What was my surprise when I realized that the chicken wasn't just an animated prop, but a real person!
Of course, I ran to it like a crazy goat and caught up to it and suddenly the magic occurred,
you know the magic of when two people stand still in front of each other and just gaze into each other's
eyes without saying a word... just making sounds to each other...

Bailizhi (momoyuyu) the chicken

Chicken: cluck
ME: aww
Chicken: cluck cluck
ME: aww aww
Chicken: cluck-CLUCK-cluck
Me: aww aww aww
and so these "clucks" and "awws" went on for a few minutes until we both realized we had attracted
a crowd wondering what we were doing. So without a cluck or an aww again, we both walked away
in different directions. :P

Now I do have two real-life stories about chickens to share with you, unfortunately, both are
very sad and end tragically but these two stories come to show how chickens can become
very special pets to us.

The first one is about my childhood.
As a kid, my mother once gifted me a small chick. I saw my little chick grow up to
be a beautiful chicken. My chicken would always follow me around and would get very excited every
time he/she would see me. One time I couldn't find my chicken pet anywhere
so I was crying looking for it. Suddenly when I looked into our neighbor's backyard, I saw the lady
neighbor, twisting my chicken's neck and killing it!!! :(
I began to scream and ran to my grandmother to tell her, I was inconsolable.
Later that night when my mother came back home from work, she told me that she had sold my chicken
to the neighbor because it had gotten too big and she would be getting me a new baby chick
to which I said NO! I cried and cried for days, missing my chicken and feeling my mother didn't
understand that it wasn't my chicken she had sold to the neighbor and had gotten killed,
but my best friend.

The second story is from Melanie King, one of my favorite Second Life photographers
and it comes as a description of the last picture she took for her Flickr. A beautiful tribute to her four
precious chickens, READ IT HERE. Hugs her tight.

But happy thoughts now my beautiful people. ;)

So the question of the day is why did the chicken cross the road?
A) Was it to get to the other side?
B) To go to heaven?
C) Because the grass was greener on the other side?

Ahhh, all good answers but before I give you the correct answer let me tell you where you too
can get your own chicken avatar for only 99L.
-CYRC- Chicken Avatar in MarketPlace
A fully rigged chicken avatar, for all your chicken being needs.
Includes a chicken noise thing that when worn you can click the avi for random chicken sounds.
::{u.f.o}:: Helen Raffia Hat not included. :P

By the way,
did you know that chickens can dream when they sleep and even worry?
They also have great memories and can recognize over 100 faces of their own species?

Eithaan & Elizabeth Dovgal (Her Flickr)

But back to our question, why did the chicken cross the road?
Well, I don't know about other chickens but the reason for mine was to be social since all the people
seemed to be on the other side of the street. Actually, more than social I was a nuisance to every single
living thing I came across with.

Chicken: Hi, what are you doing?
Chicken: umm, what are you doing?
Silence
Chicken: ok byeeee

Not much luck there, just kidding. Mr. Eithaan actually said hello to me first. :)))
And Mrs. Elizabeth was so pretty that I wanted to ask her if she could be in my Beautiful Women Of
Second Life section in the blog but I was too shy to ask. Now I wonder if she would have said yes?

By the way,
did you know chickens can run 9MPH and that there are more chickens in the world than humans?

Chicken: Hey lady what are you doing?
Chicken: I'm down here, what are you doing?
Silence
Chicken: Ok byeeee

By the way,
Did you know chickens are technically dinosaurs?
They are also very smart, and they also have great problem-solving skills, they comprehend cause and
effect, demonstrate self-control, and like owls, they have almost 360-degree vision.

Since I wasn't having much luck with humans, I opted for other options.

Chicken: See, it says right here that we are all chickens. You all are just ugly-weird-looking ones.
Seagull: Where does it say that?
Chicken: Right there, put on your glasses so you can read it.

By the way,
did you know that chickens are good teachers? They can pass on their knowledge to other chickens,
and like to play with each other.

So I got to watch the passing boats with the bunnies. Have lunch with the sheep.
It was really a fun-chicken day that I am hoping to repeat in the future. I felt more like myself
being a chicken than in my human avatar.... mmm, maybe I should just stay a chicken forever.

And finally,
Did you know that hens will mate with many roosters and after they can actually eject the sperm
of the unwanted ones if those particular roosters are not to their liking?

So there you have it, a new adventure like no other in the life of Lori Novo.
Thankfully, I had most of this blog post already written, just needed to work on some minor details.
Still feeling sick but just wanted to make sure I had something posted for you today .
Back to bed now. See you all tomorrow if I am feeling better.
Take care of each other.

Much love,
Lori Novo

Welcome
this is
(General)

Description:
Turquoise sea of the Caribbean, the variety of colors, extraordinary Cuban architecture,
its revolutionary history: El Paraiso Libertad. Sail to Blake Sea.

Hello Beautiful World!
Today I come to you from a beautiful Cuban location.
The landing point seems to be the residential part of this location overlooking the Blake Sea.
♪ ♫ Mi guajira, te traigo mi son (Guajira, te traigo)
Que tiene salsa y tiene trombón (Que tiene, ¡vamo'!)...
Can't stop dancing to this song by Buena Vista Social Club, Guajira En F.
This is a Cuban "Son", the most popular music genre in Cuba that contains Spanish and African
musical influences. I can almost feel myself dancing around the tables on the streets of Cuba where men
spend hours and hours playing Cuba's favorite past-time, dominos.

But now let's hitch-hike a ride to the second part of this location since hitch-hiking is a very common
way to get around in Cuba. ;)

Oh, wait! Cancel that ride.
The second part of this location is just uphill.

By the way, did you know that after Catholicism, Santeria is the most popular religion in Cuba?
Santeria rituals are led by priests and priestesses in temples known as Houses of Saints.
This religion originated in the colonial era and it is a combination of the Yoruba people, an African
tribe, and Roman Catholicism which was introduced to Cuba by the Spanish conquistadores.
Interesting!

Two other interesting facts about Cuba have to do with Christmas and New Year's Eve.
First, La Navidad Silenciosa which translates to The Silent Christmas was a period of 30 years when
in 1969, Fidel Castro abolished Christmas. Yes, Christmas was banned! Thankfully, This ban was
lifted in 1977 when Pope John Paul II paid a visit to this beautiful country.
The second fact is the burning of "monigotes" in the streets on New Year's Eve, right at the stroke of
midnight. Monigotes are life-sized rag dolls and this tradition is a way to say goodbye to the old year.
And if you want to follow an easier Cuban New Year's tradition is the cleansing of the egg. This is
believed to purify you for the new year. This Cuban tradition consists in rubbing your whole body,
especially your head and the bottom of your feet with an uncooked egg and then smashing it while
making a wish for the new year.

I'll be trying this on this year's, New Year's Eve for sure. ;)

Now that we have reached uphill, we find ourselves in a colorful and inviting
commercial area, Touristy better said. Here you will find everything from cute little shops,
eating establishments, and a dancing area that seems to hold live performances, not really sure
about that one though.

♪ ♫ Guajira te estoy llamando
Para brindarte mi amor
Y darte las melodías
Que salen de mi trombón...

Still dancing?
I am! ;)

Now some other Cuban facts that I love is their education system. Cuba has a literacy rate of over
99%, one of the highest in the world, almost a perfect score I tell you. <3
This is thanks to the Cuban Literacy Campaign which made schools accessible to everyone.
Now if you ask me what is my favorite bird the answer is the hummingbird. Cuba is home to the
smallest bird in the world which grows approximately to 6 cm. and that is the bee hummingbird.
It is so small that it can be mistaken for an insect and their nests are the size of a quarter.

So there you have it, my beautiful people.
A great new location waiting for you to go and explore, a piece of Cuba in our Second Life.
And some great facts about that beautiful country, hope you enjoyed.

Saying bye for now but seeing you soon again.
Stay cool, both temperature-wise and in attitude! :P
Much love,
Lori Novo

Ant Another Story

Hello Beautiful World!

The other day as I walked into my kitchen I could immediately smell ants. I looked around
and found a bunch of them on the kitchen table. After I got rid of them I went and told my kids and
all they could do was laugh, "Haha mom, you could smell the ants? ants don't smell haha."

What do you two mean ants don't smell? Of course, they do, I have been able to smell ants all
my life. To me, they smell like Sprite (soda), I am serious, so I decided to search about it,

So what about the odor? this is what I found...
Ants are known to have the distinctive odour of formic acid, but only some people can smell it.
Most people say it smells quite lemony or citronella-like, while one species smells like blue cheese.
-Source Internet

Ha! See, I am not crazy!
When I say I can smell ants it means I really can smell them and it is not just all in my head. I wonder
if they would taste like Sprite too if I tried one. 😐 Now don't worry, I am not about to go try one,
I am no anteater, but then again, I live by one rule when it comes to food and drinks and that is I
should try everything at least once before I decide I don't like it. Really, you would be very shocked
by some of the things I have tried in my life. Anyways, if I ever decide to try an ant, I'll let you all
know.

There are three ant facts related to ants and the people in my life that I want to share with you.
Fact one, as a child I had a friend that liked cutting off the back part of ants. She would find ant
holes and would sit near it and just be cutting off ant bootie for hours. Now that I think about it,
I feel so bad for those poor ants. I wonder if she ever got bitten by one.

Now, this brings us to fact two and this one is about my mother.
My mother never minded an ant bite. I am serious! If she got bitten by ants, she would just laugh and
wouldn't move away from them. She had no fear of these little rascals. However, in fact three, my baby
sister when she was a toddler was terrified of them. It was so bad that my sister had to be carried
outside most time because she refused to walk on the ground when she spotted a single, small ant.

And there you have it! My ant fact, the power to be able to smell them from a mile away. :P
And before I go, here's a list of ant facts that we all should know...

Fact #1: Colonies are bigger than the average ant farm.
Fact #2: Ants have specific jobs.
Fact #3: Ants don't have ears.
Fact #4: One ant species is exclusively female.
Fact #5: Ants can become zombies.
Fact #6: Ants can lift 10-50 times their body weight.
Fact #7: Some ants are homeless.
Fact #8: Ants are found (almost) everywhere on Earth.
