With A Little Help From My Friends

Dedicated To Etrad Alex

“Many people will walk in and out of your life,
but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart”
― Eleanor Roosevelt

Hello Beautiful World!
Wishing you a beautiful Saturday.
Today's post is dedicated to one of the many wonderful people I have ever met in Second Life and had
the great honor of calling a friend. But he wasn't just a friend or even a good friend, Etrad Alex was a best friend.
One of the few people who left some of the most beautiful footprints in my heart.
I met Etrad on a Friday, on a November day back in 2012, while I was at Tai Chi, in Tempura Island.
Here, you can read about the day we met.
Etrad entered my heart almost immediately with his beautiful ways, and we became best of friends.
He was actually the one friend that I felt the closest to at that time.
Etrad used to log in during his lunch hour from (RL) work, and I would join him every day and
keep him company while he ate his meal. We would talk about family and other RL topics. I always looked
forward to that lunch hour with my friend. Etrad became protective of me and would stand up
to anyone who would hurt me with words or actions. He was a very good listener and adviser,
and he was always there for me. Sadly, our beautiful friendship ended, and really, I can't remember
the reason why it did. But the wonderful memories I have of him continue to live in my heart,
bringing always smiles when I remember our times together. Etrad's place in my life can't be replaced,
and I only wish that he, too, remembers me fondly as I remember him.
So today's post is for him, to honor that great man.
May God bless him and keep him and his loved ones safe.
May he be surrounded by much love and happiness.
"Etrad, sending a HUGE hug your way!"

"The Grass is greener where you water it."

Now, how great is this version of the greener grass quote?
I heard it from Madison, one of the brides, last night while watching the show Love At First Sight, Chicago Edition
(Episode 4). I do love this type of reality shows, even though we all know they are somehow scripted.
But hey, they still keep me entertained, and that is all that matters, right?
Time to go now, it is a beautiful Saturday to enjoy by going to the beach or spending it with family and friends.
Remember that out there, life, real life, is waiting for us with open arms. Til next time, take care of each other! ;)

Christmas Always Finds Me

For My Mother

“Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!
What if Christmas, he thought, ...perhaps...means a little bit more!”
― Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Is it too late to celebrate Christmas?

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill,
to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”
― Calvin Coolidge

Hello Beautiful World!
Happy Wednesday to all. I've decided that it's never too late to celebrate my mother's favorite
time of the year, Christmas.

“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.”
― Hamilton Wright Mabie

Since my mother's passing back in April 2017, Christmas has become the hardest time of the year for me.
I go into deep depressions and anger. I truly become the Grinch during the holidays.
Many times I wished that I could just fall asleep during that time and wake up when everything Christmas-related
has been completely cleared out, and no sign of it is left behind.
It is crazy how my mind works, since my mother loved Christmas, and she seemed to always be the happiest
around that time of the year. But really, my mother was always the happiest person I knew,
kind-hearted and so full of love and joy for life that it was hard not to get contagious
by her beautiful soul.

Now, the happy memories of my mother so lovingly celebrating Christmas are bittersweet.
I smile and cry, and cry and smile, and sadly, crying beats the smiles because I know I can
never have her again in my life to celebrate Christmas together.

“Christmas ghosts visit
rearranging emotions
tears waltz among smiles”
― Susie Clevenger

My Steppenwolf tries to cheer me up every Christmas by decorating our home with
lights, poinsettias, and a Christmas tree, among other things. If he plays Christmas music, I mute it, and I learned to ignore all the holiday decor as if it were invisible to me. Every year, he tries to talk me
into opening my heart again to this beautiful holiday and letting the Christmas spirit in, unsuccessfully!

And unsuccessfully, he had been all these years until now. This past Christmas, my husband said something to me that I am sure he has said to me every year, but I had dismissed his words as he was saying them. This time I listened.

"Baby, honor your mother by celebrating Christmas, which she loved so much."

That's all he said, and his words were perfect and enough.
they gave me room to think and fill the rest once I let them into my heart.
They made me think that my mother is in every Christmas light and in every note and lyric of a Christmas song. She smiles through every happy smile on people's faces during the holidays.
My mother is the most alive during the holidays, and she has been waiting for me to continue to
celebrate all Christmases together. So I have decided that in my mother's memory, I will continue to honor her by celebrating Christmas with a heart full of joy and love, for her and the holiday.
Merry Christmas my Virita, my beautiful mother!

“Want to keep Christ in Christmas?
Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, forgive the guilty, welcome the unwanted,
care for the ill, love your enemies, and do unto others as you would have done unto you.”
― Steve Maraboli

If I had known that that day it would be the last time I would see your smile
I would have stayed longer and hugged you tighter.
I would have kissed your face and your hands a million times.
I would have sung you a song and goofed around to make you laugh.
I would have told you an infinite of "I love you"'s,
and rested my head on your chest just to feel close to your heart.
If only I had known my dear mother...
Rest In Peace ♥

"There are eyes that look at me
They make my soul tremble with love
They are such beautiful eyes
I have not seen more beautiful eyes.

Oh, who could look at themselves in them!
Oh who could kiss them more!
Always enjoying its sparkles
And never forget them again."

Hello Beautiful World!
Today my beautiful mother celebrates another birthday in heaven accompanied by her mother and son
among all the other angels. I too carry a celebration for her in my heart. I celebrate the honor of having
her as a mother and father since she had to take both roles in my life. I celebrate the exceptional and
beautiful woman that she was on this earth. Her joy for life, her love for all, and her strength exemplify
who my mother was. Her beautiful presence where she got to touch so many lives and make a
difference is one of the greatest inspirations she left behind for me to follow.

It is very hard for me to visit her grave since she passed away.
But there is not a day that I don't plant a flower for her in my heart and water it with my tears.
Tears of joy and sadness.

Today, I celebrate my mother.
The pillar in my life that gave me strength. The roots of my existence. The force that taught
me to stand strong during the storm. The joy that taught me that no matter what, there are always
beautiful reasons to keep smiling. The perseverance that taught me to never look back
to what has hurt me because all wounds will heal, but to look ahead, confident and strong,
happy and hopeful.

Thank you my Virita!

Somewhere Farway

 For my mother...
"I need you to hold me tonight"... I miss you more than words can ever describe how
much I need you. How much I want to be with you wherever you are.
To be embraced by your love together forever, somewhere far away.

"I don't wanna cry no more
Come back I need you to hold me (you are the reason)
Be a little closer now
Just a little closer now
Come a little closer
I need you to hold me tonight..."

There goes my hands shaking
And you are the reason
My heart keeps bleeding
I need you now

And if I could turn back the clock
I'd make sure the light defeated the dark
I'd spend every hour, of every day
Keeping you safe

And I'd climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you
And fix what I've broken
Oh, 'cause I need you to see
That you are the reason...

Suitcase Full of Memories

A DEDICATION TO AN OLD FRIEND

And now I walk on the lonely path with a suitcase full of memories in one hand,
and another suitcase full of dreams in the other...

It wasn't that I didn't love you enough to make you stay or to let you go.
But our journey together had come to an end, with no more road to travel.
We learned from each other what we had to learn. And just like every chapter comes to an end,
ours ended with no more space to add any more words.

But your absence doesn't erase all we once shared together when we walked hand in hand.
Sharing the same love and the same dreams, the laughter and tears.
You will find highlighted in yellow in our chapter the parts of my favorite moments of us.
And I doubled underlined the many times we said "I love you" to each other, too many to count.

Because there might still be love we both feel for each other, but sometimes love is not enough,
when the road closes in front of us, and there is no way to go.
And that is when final goodbyes are in place, with a simple handshake or a loving embrace.
A final sweet smile, and a tear in our eyes, as we begin to walk on our own,
in different directions without looking back.
And each with a suitcase full of memories in one hand.

Sometimes people are not meant to stay in our lives for too long or forever.
When a beautiful friendship begins to cause more pain than joy the best thing is to walk away.
Walk away and take only the beauty and sweetness once shared. And leave behind the hurtful words.

Remember The Lily

 EXPLORING SECOND LIFE
FOR MY MOTHER

Hello Beautiful World!
Just a little blog post here, that is in words but big in pictures. I have been feeling a bit down
these past few days with my mother's passing anniversary coming just around the corner.
Right now, words are hard to come...
Maybe later they will. ;) Have a beautiful day everyone!
♥

Lyrics-

If I should die before you wake
pray the lord my soul to take, take me away, the music plays
do not cry do not shed a tear, I lived my life without fear
please do not morn me now

Just hold my fire in your hands and in your heart
and remember my song goes on.
Angels were singing dance and sway, to the blues on my funeral day
please place the lily on my stone and remember my song goes on.

oooohhhh
mmmmm, mmmmm

Spread my ashes on the west coast.
Get together and tell some jokes,
make some music for me now.
Been around this old world and friend,
please do not cry for me,
just let me go.

And hold my fire in your hands and in your heart.
Snd remember my song goes on.
Angels were singing dance, and sway, to the blues on my funeral day.
Please place the lily on my stone,
and remember my song goes on...

Look for me in the open sky.
Feel me close in the moonlight,
do not be afraid.
Hold me close in, tallest tree,
hear my whisper on the ocean breeze,
I will always be there.

Just hold my fire in your hands and in your heart.
And remember my song goes on.
Angels were singing, dance and sway, to the blues on my funeral day.
Please place some lily on my stone, and remember my song goes on.

ummm remember ummm remember the lily
remember the lily and let me go
remember the lily remember the lily
remember the lily and let me go
remember the lily remember the lily
remember the lily let me go...

“And I feel the sigh of love
I heard the sound of love
I taste the fruit of love
And beckon, once more, for glorious
Laughter to dance from my memory
And sing skyward, toward you”
― Cheryl Seely Savage

Hello Beautiful Second Life!
I come to you today from a very special place that holds some very beautiful memories of moments
spent there. Moments when I felt infinite joy. But as we all know sometimes those things that once
brought us so much happiness tend to turn painful and their memories become nostalgic.
I do continue returning to this place from time to time to revisit the memories made there.
However, they are bitter-sweet and I usually find myself back and forth between the smiles and the tears.

Welcome, this is Pemberley (Moderate)!

Those memories continue to dance like butterflies among the white flowers and greet me
each time they see me. "Hello Lori, welcome back. We are still here, always waiting for you,
no matter the time." It was in this place that I first heard music by Dave Matthews while
friendly fingers played the guitar for me.

Now, it is always quiet and lonely as I explore the beautiful land. I want to say that I enjoy the
solitude of this place, but not really. I long to see the familiar face and listen to the music of
Dave Matthews, accompanied by a good friend and a guitar. Nostalgia brings regret, wishing
I could go back in time and do things so differently, take a different journey, and start all over again.
But while life is sweet, sometimes it can be so unfair and cruel, and there are no second chances.
And with that, the only thing left to do is to continue the journey carrying the memories
we made, even if they hurt, and now make us cry.

Thanks For Reading!
Much love,
Lori Novo
