Save Me

 CAPTURING TEMPURA ISLAND

Are goodbyes meant to be forever?
I sure hope not. Maybe some simply are meant to be "I'll catch you again at a better time!" ;)

Song Shared by Velorin

"Save me from fear and pain
And love come down and rain on me
Save me today
Before tomorrow
Find me at rest..."
-lyrics

Hello Beautiful World!
Meet Velorin (8 Years-11 Months, SL Old)
Whom I had the pleasure of meeting early this morning at Tempura Island.

"To live is to be vulnerable, to love is to fear. One who is not afraid, cannot love."

"Does that mean the drugs are working when everyone around me is crazy?
Or I just need more water.
I'm chill, laid back.  Happy to be on my own, as much as I like to be lost in a crowd.
Self-worth comes from within, so always keep improving.
Never be afraid to look in the mirror."
-from his profile

I loved everything about his profile which was what captured my attention to him immediately.
After reading it I was curious to see who was the person behind it and so I began to search for him
and found him sitting under the golden bridge, alone and away from everyone.
When I saw him I seriously got goosebumps because, for some reason, it was a beautiful sight.
I could relate very much to what my eyes were seeing when we embrace the solitude of a
beautiful place and a moment. I can't tell you what was going through his mind as he sat there
but I hope he was getting the peace we look for when we stay away from the world.

The above picture is the moment I found him.
And the reason all my attention stayed on him while everyone else around temporarily
seemed to fade away.

"Sure I game a bit. Happy to game with others if we play similar games.
Open to trying other stuff too, gaming together more fun than alone!"

Once I zoomed in, I noticed two very special things about him that made me smile.
First, Velorin looks so much like my brother (RL). I don't get to see my brother much so this morning
looking at Velorin put a smile on my face, something that I needed very much.
The second special thing I noticed about Velorin was the little white bird on his head,
another thing that made me smile. Seeing the bird on his head was like confirmation to me
that everything will be okay. It always is, especially when birds are around.
For some reason, there are always birds around when I am going
through hard times and I feel they come to help me lift my spirit. <3
I do regret not asking him the reason for the bird though.
If I do find out, I'll be sure to share it with you. ;)

So there you have it my beautiful people.
another beautiful human in our Second Life. Someone who without knowing it, can bring so much
light to somebody else and smiles just by exciting in the world and sitting under a golden bridge.

Thanks For Reading!
Much love,
♥

A Month For Dedications

Dedicated to my mother Virita, my grandmother Carmelita, Victorita, and my brother.

Hello sweet November! So good to see you again.
And Hello Beautiful World!

I begin this month dedicating it to my mother's memory, my buelita Carmen, and my brother.
And also to Victorita, a sweet old lady that more than a neighbor to me and my siblings,
she was like a grandmother.

“People you love never die.
They don't die. Not completely.
They live in your mind, the way they always lived inside you.
You keep their light alive. If you remember them well enough,
they can still guide you, like the shine of long-extinguished stars
could guide ships in unfamiliar waters.”
― Matt Haig

Ant Another Story

Hello Beautiful World!

The other day as I walked into my kitchen I could immediately smell ants. I looked around
and found a bunch of them on the kitchen table. After I got rid of them I went and told my kids and
all they could do was laugh, "Haha mom, you could smell the ants? ants don't smell haha."

What do you two mean ants don't smell? Of course, they do, I have been able to smell ants all
my life. To me, they smell like Sprite (soda), I am serious, so I decided to search about it,

So what about the odor? this is what I found...
Ants are known to have the distinctive odour of formic acid, but only some people can smell it.
Most people say it smells quite lemony or citronella-like, while one species smells like blue cheese.
-Source Internet

Ha! See, I am not crazy!
When I say I can smell ants it means I really can smell them and it is not just all in my head. I wonder
if they would taste like Sprite too if I tried one. 😐 Now don't worry, I am not about to go try one,
I am no anteater, but then again, I live by one rule when it comes to food and drinks and that is I
should try everything at least once before I decide I don't like it. Really, you would be very shocked
by some of the things I have tried in my life. Anyways, if I ever decide to try an ant, I'll let you all
know.

There are three ant facts related to ants and the people in my life that I want to share with you.
Fact one, as a child I had a friend that liked cutting off the back part of ants. She would find ant
holes and would sit near it and just be cutting off ant bootie for hours. Now that I think about it,
I feel so bad for those poor ants. I wonder if she ever got bitten by one.

Now, this brings us to fact two and this one is about my mother.
My mother never minded an ant bite. I am serious! If she got bitten by ants, she would just laugh and
wouldn't move away from them. She had no fear of these little rascals. However, in fact three, my baby
sister when she was a toddler was terrified of them. It was so bad that my sister had to be carried
outside most time because she refused to walk on the ground when she spotted a single, small ant.

And there you have it! My ant fact, the power to be able to smell them from a mile away. :P
And before I go, here's a list of ant facts that we all should know...

Fact #1: Colonies are bigger than the average ant farm.
Fact #2: Ants have specific jobs.
Fact #3: Ants don't have ears.
Fact #4: One ant species is exclusively female.
Fact #5: Ants can become zombies.
Fact #6: Ants can lift 10-50 times their body weight.
Fact #7: Some ants are homeless.
Fact #8: Ants are found (almost) everywhere on Earth.

For My Mother

Hello Beautiful World!

Today would have been my mother's birthday if she was still with us.
However, she is now with the angels so there is no doubt in my heart that she is
celebrating this day with her mother and her son (my brother Art) and with all the angels
in heaven. But this doesn't mean that Steppenwolf and I can't celebrate her here too.

Steppenwolf and I always celebrate her and we have made a very special place for her in
our Second Life home where we like to go and sit down and remember her. My husband
always makes sure that there are flowers for her and will change them according to the season.

I feel so happy that my mother got to know my Steppenwolf. She loved him because
she was aware of how much this man truly loves me and how much he takes care of me.
She left knowing that she was leaving me in the hands of a loving and caring man.

My Virita was truly an amazing woman and I was so blessed to have her as a mother. In the last years of her life, she spent hours and hours every day making rosaries with yarn which she would then donate to the church to be given away. She would also carry some of these rosaries in her purse at all times to give away to people she felt were going through rough times.

The song choice for this post, Amazing Grace, was the song my mother had requested
to be sung at her funeral, so this brings me to something I want to share that I am sure I already
shared with some of you in the past but we got so many new readers that I would love to
do it again...

The next time that I returned to visit my mother's grave after her funeral, I was still in really
bad shape. When we got there, I asked my kids to give me time alone with her. It was
a very hot, sunny day. Once I was alone I let the tears come out, I started talking to her
and then I started to sing Amazing Grace for her. Suddenly, a soft wind began to blow,
before that, all day it had been calmed. The wind continued as I continued singing and the
wind chimes from nearby graves began to sound, you should know my mother loved
wind chimes. The wind was so gentle and it felt so soothing, like a mother's hug. My
sadness at that moment turned into a very calm and joyous feeling because I could feel my
mother in the soft wind. Once I finished singing my mother's song, the wind slowly
began to stop and the wind chimes stopped playing. I signaled my kids to return and when
I mentioned to them the soft wind they said they had not felt any wind. I just smiled
because I knew that had been my mother who had come to hug me while I sang for her.

Happy Birthday Virita!!!
Always and forever in my heart mami<3
-Laura

"Lori’s mom was so loving to her! We celebrate her birthday today and wish she were here
with us still. But for every time we think of her, there she is Always in our hearts."
-Steppenwolf

An Answer From Heaven

Featuring
AZUL by MAMI JEWELL

This post is dedicated to the memory of my brother. There is not a day that goes by that I don't
remember him, but lately, for some reason, I've been thinking of him even more. I miss him
and love him just as much as the day he left us. My brother suffered severe depression.

If you suffer from depression and/or have suicidal thoughts, please seek help.
You are not alone. There are people waiting to help you.

THE SNOW
Coming out from midnight mass from the small church that is across from my home
on that December 25, 2004 night, we were all greeted by a soft rain of sparkling snowflakes
softly falling over all of us. You can just imagine the excitement of all the faithful parishioners
that had been attending the house of the Lord to receive the birth of our baby Jesus.
For many of us, it was the first snow that our eyes had ever seen. We all gathered and looked up
to the sky in disbelief and shouts of "It is Beautiful!" could be heard all around. No one seemed
to want to leave and missed such wonderful gift from God... the snow!

Early the next morning, I woke up eager to see how it looked outside. I ran as quickly as my legs
allowed it and opened my curtains to the front window to look at the park across the street.
What my eyes saw that morning was a beautiful scene. It looked like something that came from a
Thomas Kinkade painting. A white layer of sparkling snow covered all the land making it look
beautifully pure, as if Heaven had visited us and decided to stay with us for a while.

My children and I ran outside eager to touch the snow that we didn't care to wear coats
and winter caps. I was so amazed by so much white beauty. I had never seen or touched snow
in my life and I couldn't contain my joy. Soon my dear brother came to visit and together we enjoyed
this wonderful snow that unfortunately only lasted us a day.
But I still remember my brother's smile and the excitement in his words and face
every time he would look outside as if to make sure the snow had not gone anywhere.

BAD NEWS
January 24, 2005, late in the afternoon, there is a knock at my front door.
Two very well-dressed men stood there bringing sad news...
My brother had tragically lost his life!

But how could that be, I had talked to him about the weather earlier that morning and he seemed OK.
"Why?... How can this be?" I kept asking myself.

The days that followed were the hardest and saddest days in my life. My dear brother was gone
and I would never be able to hear his voice, put my arms around him, and see his beautiful smile
ever again. I became quiet and tended to be away from everyone. I wanted to be alone
to remember him, to cry, to get angry, and to ask why this had happened?

After many sleepless nights of crying for my dear brother, I finally got the feeling of needing to
talk directly to him and ask him why he did what he did. Lying down on my bed and with my pillow
completely drowning in my tears I asked my dear brother...

"I miss you so much, why did you have to go? How can I ever smile again knowing how tragically
you left us? My dear brother, I ask that you try to find a way to let me know that you are OK, that you
finally have the peace you long for and that you are with our Lord.
Please dear brother find a way to let me know this, any way you can... I love you...",
and then I finally went to sleep after many days of not sleeping.

THE MUSIC
About an hour later, I am awakened by soft music. It seemed to be coming from far, far away.
The melody was a sweet one like in an echo and I could hear someone, a man, singing.
I couldn't make the words he was singing but in his voice, I could sense peace. I got up and started
searching around in the darkness of my bedroom, every corner, everywhere, but I couldn't
find where it was coming from. It seemed to be coming from every direction. I ran and awakened my
family and asked them to listen....."ssssshhhh.... listen to the beautiful music",
but no one could hear it... only me.

Then I knew it, this was the sign, the message I had asked my brother to send me so
I would know he was in peace with our Lord and I could smile again.
