La Llorona

Featuring
A GHOSTLY LEGEND

BOO!
Oops, this post just slipped into the blog tonight. Nope, I am lying :P
Yesterday I was so inspired by the beautiful song below to get wickedly spooky.
I wasn't here last month so I lost the opportunity to give you a few scares with the haunted places in
Second Life.  So yesterday I said to myself, "Hey, why not at least this spooky post?!

Let's say it is like a gift to myself for also not being here during my RL birthday on November 2nd.
Yes, I was born on Dia de los Muertos (Day of Dead) and something that I have never mentioned before
is that when I was six months old I got so ill, and believe it or not, I died. I was really pronounced dead.
But for some miraculous reason, I suddenly returned from the eternal sleep. However, since a very
young age, I have always had a feeling that I would be dying young. Don't ask me why... crazy I know.
But so far I have beaten all the odds and I am still here.
AMEN!

By the way, once again I would like to invite all my Pinterest friends to visit my
DIA DE LOS MUERTOS Board. Don't let the title scare you, it is actually very festive.
Who would have thought that death could be so "colorful" ;)

I was planning on saving the post to be published next month since it is really so out of place for
the season. But then I couldn't wait that long since I was very excited about its content.
And anyway, who doesn't like to hear scary stories at night, right? ;)

The song's name is inspired by the ghostly legend of la Llorona, the weeping woman.
There are many versions of this story but I'll share with you the one I grew up listening to as a child
back in Mexico when I was living with my grandma Carmelita.

I had so much fun trying to create my own "llorona" look with what I already had in my inventory.
I used part of the Lucy Funeral Gown outfit by Faster Pussycat. HERE you can view the complete outfit.

My location is
Unbelievable how the same beautiful and magical place can be transformed
and give a different feeling/mood by the windlight settings we use.

"Si porque te quiero quieres, Llorona
Quieres que te quierá más
Si ya te he dado la vida, Llorona
¿Qué mas quieres?
¿Quieres más?"

Dulce Pontes' incredible voice is just so amazing with such deep sentiment.

"If because I love you you love, Weeper
You want me to love you more
If I've already given you life, Weeper
What else do you want?
You want more?"
-Song Lyrics -

The "Llorona" song was first well-known to audience by Costa Rican, Chavela Vargas back in 1993.
The way this singer interprets the song is so incredibly powerful. She also performed it in the 2002
movie FRIDA, starring Salma Hayek.

I am fascinated by Frida Kahlo's art and her life and I have also created a Pinterest board.
I have included in that board everything from Frida's & Diego's masterpieces to real-life photos of them,
and how to create Frida's look, etc.

Unbelievable how such a beautiful melody was inspired by such a sad tale.

This is my version of
LA LLORONA
(The Weeping Woman)

A beautiful woman from a small village drowns her children in a fit of madness after finding out that her
lover is thinking about leaving her. She knows that the reason for him leaving her is her children since
he doesn't want someone who has a family. So one day she takes them to the river and there she drowns
them one by one. However, the man after finding out what she has done, leaves.
The beautiful woman realizing that she has lost the man she loves and her children, commits suicide by
drowning herself in the very same spot where she killed her children.

After that, every night, in the dark streets of the village her ghostly floating silhouette dressed all in
white wandered in search of her babies with painful repeatable cries... "ohhh my children".
With the first rays of light... her tormented ghostly figure would finally disappear at the river edge.

Here are a few other versions of the story
