“Begin your new story on a blank page,
and like lonely footprints along a snowy path,
the rest will follow...”
― Nanette L. Avery
Hello Beautiful World!
And a very happy day/evening to everyone.
I have played the song above so many times on the blog, and though it is the same song,
I always play it with a different meaning. This time, the old friend in the lyrics represents
the first year of my Second Life. That was the time when life in Second Life was so
much easier. Some of those days still live very vividly in my mind.
Running through fields of gold, dancing in the water under the rain, and climbing trees.
I felt so free.
That first year, I walked Second Life solo for most of the time. That was the plan: to join Second Life,
but not as a social perspective, but more as a solo platform to write and take pretty pictures for a blog,
and stay away from people. Yes, I was shy. Shy and afraid of this virtual world.
But Second Life had other plans for me.
I began to meet people, some weird and scary, but for most of the time, I met nice people, wonderful people,
and very special people that I began to call friends, sisters, and brothers.
And my little blog, which was intended to be something small, just for my eyes only, still, made public,
began to create waves. Some of those waves really scared me. I hated the attention I was getting.
I wanted to do my own thing, but go unknown, unseen, unheard.
And so my Second Life's journey didn't go as planned. It grew wings on its own and took me in a
different direction. A direction unknown to me.
There are many things I am thankful for in my Second Life. But there are also many things I am
regretful of. Still, with every step, I learned and grew for the better, I hope.
Not just for myself but for those around me.
“Knowledge without application is simply knowledge.
Applying the knowledge to one’s life is wisdom — and that is the ultimate virtue”
― Kasi Kaye Iliopoulos
Now, I find myself longing for that first year and the feeling of being unknown.
I want to run through fields of gold, dance in the water in the rain, and climb trees.
And feel free, me, myself, and I, and my Steppenwolf
That first chapter in my Second Life has been bookmarked forever.
Thanks For Reading!
