The Trees
Written by Adeen Moonites
high and low
their colors of vibrant
oranges, crimson reds, golden sunlight, mossy greens spread out
against the soft blue sky
as the days pass by
the colors get brighter then begin to dry till they are like a piece parchment
they fall to the ground lifeless
laying there till nature takes them over
or gathered for the season to be used for decorations for the seasons
time passes where the grounds are covered with a blanket
of soft, crackling , crunchy snow
they reach for the sky
low and high
vibrant full of renewed life
soft to the touch being young as they are
their blooms of soft fingers begins to grow
as time and days go by they join the others to a deep leafy green
they shade us,
they give us shelter and a place to sit and lay our heads at night,
we swing under them in in hammocks reading our papers
they renew our air,
they give us heat in the winter,
first colorful colors in fall,
they make toy swords, spetars, wands, arms,
for the adventurous and imaginative
then cursed at
they hold the ground for us when water overwhelms us
as the clock winds down
they dry up and replenish for the next time around
they reach for the sky
high and low
