How to control a human being and submit him/her to your own wishes?
Very easy: first you take out the capacity that this person has to maintain herself/himself.
Second: destroy this person's self-esteem. You can see how effective these things are if you think about
slavery and women's submission throughout humankind's existence.
Our beauty concept was always related to money and domination. If you take a look at some ancient
paintings you can see that our beauty pattern already was to have more fat on our bodies. The
interesting thing is that when most people didn't have what to eat the beauty was in being fat,
just like the rich people were. And now? Even though we unfortunately still have people passing
through starvation, our population is better fed than before. What is our beauty pattern now?
Being as thin as we can, as the rich people are because only they can pay for a personal trainer and all
the surgeries possible to take fat from their bodies. What a coincidence! Money means beauty!
Another point is that even though women could already get much with financial independence, we still
have a looooooooot of work to do. Why? We are still emotionally dependent. We are still dominated by
men when they say how our bodies should be and how we should behave so we can be beautiful.
We look at those skeletal models and we feel ugly and incompetent. To keep a woman in bones looking
is very convenient: you take money from her and you keep the control of her body. It's insane when you
think that what made us survive in very ancient times is now synonymous with ugliness. Yes, dear, if
our bodies could not keep fat we would not be here now to tell the story, we would have been
"beautifully" extinct.
A thing that has been making me sad about SL is that we are repeating the same mistakes we do in real
life. An example of this is the problem with mesh clothes and alpha masks. They only fit some kinds of
bodies. Instead of clothes to fit the bodies, it's the bodies that have to be modified many times to fit the
clothes. Am I crazy or this makes absolutely no sense? I am not a designer or even know much about
creating outfits, but it would be so nice if the alpha masks could be edited just like the attachable
things...but they have different natures. How could that be solved? I want to be able to have any body
and the clothes to fit me. I want to see people happy with their bodies because I love our diversity.
I love the fact that beauty is not an objective concept. That is what makes us special and unique!
What is beautiful for me maybe is not beautiful for you and vice versa, but what is absolutely great!
Otherwise, only the pattern people would be loved and appreciated, which would make this world even
more sad and cruel. I really hope anytime we can have the freedom to have the body we wish on SL.
