Fame & Glory

Famous
adjective: (ˈfāməs)
Having a widespread reputation, usually of favorable nature; renowned; celebrated:
She's famous in Second Life.

Hello Beautiful World!

Who is considered the most popular avatars in Second Life, have you ever wondered?
I wanted to find out so I begin to search for the Crème de la Crème list
of the best-known Second Life residents. According to CNN, Anshe Chung is the main,
online personality, avatar considered the Rockefeller of Second Life (Read more).
Unfortunately, my curiosity to find what other avatars had made it to the top took me nowhere.
I came to a roadblock when all I could find was a list of some names that haven't been updated
in almost 10 years. Maybe my search wasn't deep enough and that list is still somewhere
waiting to be found.

But who do you personally considered the most famous avatars you know?
This may differ from person to person. For me, just to name a few,
I would have to say that Neva Crystall
(Blogger / Co. owner of the Shiny Shabby Event / Owner of Neva Estates),
Giz Seorn (Gizza / Owner & Designer),
Poulet Koenkamp (Purplemoon' owner & Designer),
Precious Restless & Vitabela Dubrovna ( Boudoir's Owners & Designers),
and my favorite SL photographer, Cypriss Hill who is on top of my list.

Then, I took my search in a different direction.
Which famous people from real life are also residents just like you and me in Second Life?
What I discovered was really exciting to me, in Jo Yardley (dated back to 2014)
you can find a very interesting list containing some names of very famous real-life people
like Tony Dyson (creator of R2-D2 for Star Wars / RIP), Drew Carey (actor & comedian),
band members of Duran Duran & Pet Shop Boys, Daft Punk, Mia Farrow
Dwight Kurt Schrute III and Yoko Ono just to name a few.
Keep in mind that this list was dated back on 2014 and though at the time,
most were still known to be active in SL (and alive), this has changed for some of the names now.
There were also unconfirmed rumors that David Bowie (RIP), Lee Ann Rimes, Ricky Gervais
Sharon Stone, Steve Jobs, Tim Burton, and Will Smith were around that same year.
But who knows how many more RL celebrities walk among us incognito every day.

Would you like to be one of the famous avatars in SL?
Fame and glory just like in real life are possible but it requires a lot of talent that you can obtain
by true dedication and heart and why not, a bit or a lot of luck as well.
Here "How do avatars become famous?" general discussion forum
you can read some of the SL residents' tips on the subject.

So now that we had walked down the red carpet of SL
and got to know some famous names, all there is left to do is to wish good luck to those
that want to continue the walk to stardom.
As for me, I prefer to keep a low profile and live a peaceful Second Life.
