Dear Second Life,
What do you say, are you ready to win back at least one friendship that is almost gone?
My article about Aedo from earlier today gave me the idea for this week's Act Of Kindness.
By no means am I implying that my friendship with Aedo was almost gone.
I honestly don't see that ever happening. On the contrary, we both have gone through
a lot together that I feel our friendship is stronger than ever.
A good friend is a treasure, more like a rare jewel, that is very hard to find.
It is a real blessing to find genuine friends that truly care about us, especially here in Second Life.
However, drifting apart can be many times inevitable for many reasons.
The thing is not to let this drifting apart go on for too long or then it would be harder
to find a way to rekindle the friendship to what it once was. Notice how I said harder,
but not impossible, where there's a will there's a way, right? ;)
A reason for many good friendships to end or start drifting apart is hard feelings
or misunderstandings. Sadly, the cause for these hard feelings and misunderstandings
are many times things that were never bigger than the friendship that was shared, b
ut we let our pride get in the way.
To get or save back those friendships may require forgiveness.
I really don't know which is harder to do, to forgive someone or to ask someone for forgiveness?
Again, the pride or fear of getting rejected may get in the way but we must remember
the good times and how that person touched our life.
Being compassionate or humble is the way to get back one of the greatest gifts in life...
friendship!
ACT OF KINDNESS
For this week, starting today, let's work together into restoring a friendship that has been broken
or simply drifted away. This can include friends from real life or Second Life,
and even better, why not restore at least one friendship from both lives? The more, the merrier!
We can start with a simple hello and the rest will follow.
By sending them a letter/email/notecard or a gift is also a good way to break the ice.
Talk about the good times and very importantly,
let them know what their friendship means to you.
Friendship is a beautiful gift we can give each other, it is a real shame to lose it
for circumstances that could have been avoided, either by taking the time to spend some time
with that friend or by taking the time to discuss any problem that was conflicting the relationship.
And if forgiveness is in order to get a good friend back, then, that is a double gift
you two are giving each other... the friendship and peace that comes with forgiveness.
I'll be checking on our Act Of Kindness during the week to see how we all are doing.
