Exploring Second Life: Magritte 18th Century RP

Day two, and I am starting to have some doubts... :(

Hello my beautiful people, hope you are having an amazing day!
So yes, as I expected it, I am starting to really, really, and I mean REALLY
miss my dark background so much that I could cry... look, I am crying now :'(

What to do when you have a head like mine that is constantly changing
and keeps coming up with what seems like brilliant new ideas
at the moment and you think "YES. THAT'S IT!",
to the next morning, after a good night's sleep, waking up feeling like,
"Oh my God, what was I thinking :("?

However, I still stand on everything I said in yesterday's article
about how I've been feeling about my work for a couple of months now.
And also I still feel that I really do need those outdoorsy pictures
that add the excitement and special "reminding" moments to my Second Life journey.

Soooo,
I came up with another brilliant ides just now (oh God, I am scared
and that is...
Why don't I just do BOTH!?

Really there is no law that says I can't.
Let the sky be the limit when it comes to my blog!... right?
"Right" of course!... I sensed a bit of doubt there for a second, Dang It!
Anyway, here is the new, AND improved plan (winks) for the future...
I'll be doing both types of pictures for my blog posts depending on the mood I am in.
Brilliant!!!

Now that we cleared that out, let us continue with our story for the day.
Actually, there is no story here but a beautiful location I visited yesterday and that
I would love to share with you...

Welcome to
(Adult)
a RP community situated in France during the 18th century.

Before we begin, let me introduce you to the beautiful Comtesse du Marais,
one of the sim's residents which I had the pleasure of meeting
during my visit to this beautiful sim.
She recommended the beautiful music for this post (Jean Baptiste Lully),
Thank you so much

Comtesse du Marais looked just lovely in her beautiful blue dress walking
so charmingly through the streets and stopping to talk to other residents there.
It is hard to believe that she is actually less than 50 days old in Second Life, but it is true!
She considers herself a history nerd and a historical drama addict.
It was a real pleasure meeting her.

I was able to explore this land by wearing an Observer HUD that I picked up at the
landing point. Proper clothes of the 18th century are required, but female & male
attire is offered for free if you do not have any, just join the group and receive it from
the vendor at the landing point.

Following, I'll be sharing all the pictures I took yesterday during my visit to Magritte.
But what better way to describe this beautiful sim than by using their own words that I took
from the note card that I received upon arrival. I also took the liberty
of copying all the information from the card to share with you at the end of the post, on Read More.
It is pretty long though but there you will find all the information you might need from descriptions, rules, entertaining info, and rental fees since Magritte has houses, farms, and estates
up for rental for those of you that are dedicated RPers.

Also on Read More you will find all credits of the items that I am wearing
so please make sure to check them out before you go.

"Magritte is located in the Southwest of France. A small town in the department of Dordogne,
not far from the town of Bergerac. The area is mostly rural and famous for its spectacular wines,
food, and truffles. Although it is mainly rural, a lot of aristocratic families have estates in the area
because of the rich harvests and high quality of life.

The Southwest, far away from Paris and the king, was always very independent.
During the reign of Louis XIII, a lot of southwestern principalities even tried
to separate from France because of the weakness of the king."

"The southwestern was the archetype of Aristocrats:
Very old and noble families, most of them older than most of the European royal dynasties,
with a lot of land and peasants. Most nobles were not royalists.
Kings and their dynasties were always in competition with the ancient families."

"The RP is historically situated in the 1750s, during the reign of Louis XV.
About 60 years before Louis XIV forced a lot of noble families to leave their estates and live in
Versailles to demonstrate his power and manifest the importance of his court. After his death, his brother, Philippe d'Orleans took over the country and Versailles and let the families choose to move
back to their estates. It became very popular to live in the countryside, also because land and
agriculture was an important source of income for a lot of noble families."

"After a whole generation spending at the court in Versailles,
those families returned to their rural estates. While the nobles were used to the royal protocols,
the rural population lived still in medieval structures."

The End.
I mean, that's all for today my beautiful people. Hope you enjoyed and wishing you
a beautiful Thursday filled with many many great moments. Keep safe and spreading
some love wherever you go, and before I go, please don't forget to show some Linden love
when you visit this amazing sim. Remember that all donations, big or small will be much
appreciated.

Magritte Note Card Information

Welcome to "MAGRITTE", a RP community, situated in France during the 18th century.

The RP simulates a day-to-day rural environment respecting the demographic dynamics between
Aristocrats and peasants... It is not moderated but has some simple rules based on common sense,
respect, and empathy.

RULES for visitors:
You are most welcome to explore our sim. Please make sure to wear proper clothes of the 18th
century and that you respect the tenants' privacy and do not walk through the gates,
into houses or walk through gardens.
Please do not interfere in ongoing roleplay, until you are acknowledged.

If you do not have proper clothes: We offer female and male clothes free of charge
for group members at the landing point in the port!
So make sure to join the group first before using the vendor.

Please make sure to get our Observer HUD at the Welcome post and to wear the HUD,
at all times during your visit.

WHAT IS "MAGRITTE" ABOUT?
Historical and social background:
Magritte is located in the Southwest of France. A small town in the department of Dordogne,
not far from the town of Bergerac. The area is mostly rural and famous for its spectacular wines,
food, and truffles. Although it is mainly rural, a lot of aristocratic families have estates
in the area because of the rich harvests and high quality of life.

The Southwest, far away from Paris and the king, was always very independent.
During the reign of Louis XIII a lot of southwestern principalities even tried to separate
from France because of the weakness of the king.

The southwestern was the archetype of Aristocrats: Very old and noble families,
most of them older than most of the European royal dynasties, with a lot of land and peasants.
Most nobles were not royalists. Kings and their dynasties were always in competition with the
ancient families.

The RP is historically situated in the 1750s, during the reign of Louis XV.
About 60 years before Louis XIV forced a lot of noble families to leave their estates and live
in Versailles to demonstrate his power and manifest the importance of his court.
After his death, his brother, Philippe d'Orleans took over the country and Versailles
and let the families choose to move back to their estates. It became very popular to live in the
countryside, also because land and agriculture was an important source of income for a lot
of noble families.

After a whole generation spending at the court in Versailles, those families returned to their rural
estates. While the nobles were used to the royal protocols, the rural population lived still
in medieval structures.

THE MAGRITTE RP HUD
Our very own HUD comes with two attachments:
A RP titler and the HUD itself. Simply add each by right-clicking them in your inventory.

The titler gives you the possibility to set a name and role in case it is different
to your display name or role on other sims.

But your name first, then your role in the second line.
This is the way you also would be presented to others. E.g:

Louis de Neuilly
Marquis de Reins

Your name and role will appear as hover text. Y
ou can also set the color of the text, corresponding to the class you choose:

Aristocrate - Pink - type:  /1 color pink
Bourgeois/Merchant - Blue - type: /1 color blue
Paysant/Farmer - Green - type /1 color green

Clerics - White - type /1 color white

The Hud itself gives you the option to choose your RP-status.
Click it on the HUD (RP, OOC, AFK,) and the meter will display your current status

ROLES AND CLASSES in MAGRITTE
There are three different social classes in Magritte:

Peasant (Le paysant).
Typically farmers, but also basic workers, blacksmiths, fishermen etc.
They pay rent to the Aristocrats for their farmland and sell their goods to the merchants.

Citizen (Le bourgeois)
Bourgeois are free citizens that typically working as trader and merchants.
They pay tax to the Aristocrats.

Aristocrat (L'Aristocrate)
Landowners. They reign over their estates, which typically include villages and towns.

To roleplay in Magritte you have to choose your social class. We ask every permanent player
or tenant to create a back story that explains their social rang.
Backstories/titles/ranks/roles need to be approved by the sim owner or a sim officer to make sure
that the RP keeps cohesive and that we do not have 23 Duques d'Orleans wandering the sim.

So please send your application/backstory to Benoit Milos (ZeistheImmortal resident).

Please be aware of the fact, that your approved role here in Magritte is only valid here in Magritte.
Other roleplays have their own registration process.  Also just because you are Count Anton de Dulac, the Provence Judge, in another RP doesn't necessarily mean you shall
have the same role approved here.

After your role is approved you need to register with the Magistrate of the town.
He will keep track of all players and their stories. The Magistrate' s name is Marquis de Milos
(poteidaon residents).

G&S RP SYSTEM
Magritte uses the G&S system for farming, producing and trading.
At the village's gate, you will find a G&S HUD dispenser in case you do not have one yet.
The HUD is optional, but it makes sense for peasants and merchants though.
We offer a G&S infrastructure throughout the sim for frequent RPers and tenants to use.

ENTERTAINMENT & RECREATION
The city offers a wide range of activities.

RENTING
We offer very few houses, farms, and estates to dedicated RPers that want to be an active
part of the community. If you want to live here, just because of the nice scenes and surroundings,
this community is not for you. We reserve the right to not continue your lease if we notice
that you are not participating in the community.

Our parcels are equipped with buildings that match our theme and some basic landscaping.
The weekly price and prim allowance of every parcel can be seen in the rental meter´s infos
(click the rental meter and then click "info". The information will be shown in public chat).

THE PRIM ALLOWANCE EXCLUDES THE STRUCTURES AND LANDSCAPING
PROVIDED BY US. THAT MEANS THAT THE PRIM LIMIT SHOWN IS GIVEN
TO YOU ON TOP OF THE PRIMS USED FOR HOUSES AND LANDSCAPING
TO DECORATE YOUR NEW HOME!!

If you wish to use your own building it must be approved by the sim owner or a moderator
in advance and will not be excluded from your prim count anymore.

For renting please contact Benoit Milos (zeustheimmortal resident).

SIM RULES
The sim rules are based on common sense and respect and are pretty easy and clear.

General rules:
1. We are a community open to every human Avatar
(Since we are an ADLUT rated sim, this excludes children)
We are LGBTQ friendly!
But please be aware of the fact that the sim is ADULT RATED,
so you might fall over a loving couple making out at the bathhouse at night.

2. The sim is public, houses and homes are private though. Please respect the tenant´s privacy
and do not walk into houses. You would not do that in RL either unless
you are a criminal suspect.

Also, we do not allow camming into homes. Privacy and respect are crucial here.

3. No banlines allowed.

4. No flying allowed (this does not include Sim officers)

5. Sex in public is tolerated but on a decent level. Again, think about what would be "ok" IRL.
Maybe you would risk some action in the haystack, the dark alley or at the beach when no one is around, but you would not hump your hubby on the street at midday.
So think before you "act". We do not mind public sex because it was part of the social life
in the 18th century, but this is not Folsom either!

6. If you decide to sell your G&S products/harvest here in one
of the provided shops/market stalls please make sure that your pricing is reasonable
and is geared to the G&S original prices.

7. No shouting on public parcels.

8. No nudity on the streets (or would you do that in RL?). Nudity at home is totally fine.

9. No nonhuman or child avatars!

10. Respect each other.

11. NO UNDERAGE PLAY!!!!

12. No Griefing.

13. No rezzing personal items in public areas on a permanent base.
If you rez an item out for a scene please remove it after the scene concludes.
Any items left will be returned to you on our regular clean up sweep.

14. No OOC offers or offers in IMs of any kind. This includes sexual services
as well as G&S products or products and services of any kind.
If you want to sell your goods or be the hoe of the port:
Do that IC and in public chat as part of your character and RP.

Renting rules:

1. Again, no ban lines.

2. No "full bright" objects unless they are for illumination.

3. Terra-forming is disabled for tenants but is a matter of approval by the Mayors.

4. Please make your landscape fit the theme.
No palms, fantasy trees etc. We all have an inner fairy, but this is not the place for it.

We recommend LITTLE BRANCH or BOTANICAL.
The sim is seasonal, so make sure your plants and landscape have the option of season change.
We will announce seasonal changing in advance, so you have enough time to change.

5. Sky structures are allowed. Before you set it up, please contact a Mayor.
He will assign you a height.

6. Security Orbs are allowed, but please make sure that they are set to min. 45 seconds.
This is a PR sim, so we want to make sure that your neighbor can knock on your door without
being ejected immediately.
Also, please make sure that your orb range stays within your land.
